I was fortunate to hear Dr. Davis give her presentation on Divorce and the New Testament. I never realized there could be such a depth of meaning. I am still thinking about all she suggested. When Dr. Davis presented this Living the Bible Series on Esther to students at Trinity Southwest University, we really had fun and saw things we had never seen before. |

Divorce and the New Testament |
This Mini-Lecture, which Dr. Anne Davis presented to a meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature, examines the "divorce passage in Matthew 19:3-12 and suggests the presence of ancient methods of midrash. She carefully explains these ancient methods and the deeper meaning from the Hebrew Scriptures that they convey. Therefore, if one interprets the passage literally, not only will the intended meaning likely be lost but an incorrect (and possibly harmful) interpretation might also result. You may purchase the DVD and Study Guide from the Bookstore.

| Christian Message in the Book of Esther | ||
The Book of Esther is in the Hebrew Scriptures, which Christians call the Old Testament. It is a very important book in Judaism but has been largely neglected by Christians. This Living the Bible Series will first explore why Esther is so important to the Jews. It will then draw on ancient methods of searching the Scriptures for deeper meaning in order to "hear" what the original audience would have heard. Finally, it will apply this rich message to the gospel of Christ and will answer the question: "As Christians, what meaning does the Book of Esther give to us?"There are five sessions in this Living the Bible Series. Session One is currently in the Library. All five sessions and the Discussion Guide may be purchased from the Bookstore. |
