SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION WITH MINI-LECTURES

BibleInteract offers serious Bible Study mini-lectures that encourage participants to search the Scriptures for depth of meaning nad offers them instruction and guidance in various methods of Bible Study. These mini-lectures include both a DVD (approximately 30 minutes) and a Study Guide to help you follow and understand the lecture as well as suggesting discussion questions. You will move far beyond simple word studies as BiubleInteract lecturers lead you to explore deeper meaning through various ancient methods that Jesus and his followers would have used including:

  • Various forms of irony that said one thing but meant another
  • Persuasive rehtorical methods of argument
  • Association with the Hebrew Scriptures through citations and allusions
  • Lliterary devices such as repetition, parallel construction, and word-play
  • Ancient methods of midrash that searched the Hebrew Scriptures for deeper meaning

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION WITH LIVING THE BIBLE SERIES

Our Living the Bible Series focuses more on practical application. Each series addresses a specific question which it explores through five brief video sessions (on one DVD) as well as a Discussion Guide that will lead you in discussion after each session. You will often find the first session in the Library, which is free. You may purchase the DVD and Discussion Guide in the Bookstore. BibleInteract encourages its members to suggest questions that will lead to a Living the Bible Series. Email your suggestions to Dr. Anne Davis, Dean of BibleInteract Institute.
