CRISIS OF IN-DEPTH BIBLICAL KNOWLEDGE: Surveys show that a crisis of basic biblical knowledge permeates the Christian community. Although most Americans consider themselves Christians, George Barna of the Barna Research Group comments, "Bible reading has become the religious equivalent of sound-bite journalism." When people turn to the Bible, Barna adds, they typically "read a brief passage without much regard for the context, then consider the primary thought or feeling that the passage provides." In fact, from his extensive research Barna concludes that Americans are more interested in faith and spirituality than in biblical and theological knowledge.

HOW BIBLEINTERACT IS RESPONDING: BibleInteract is responding to this crisis of biblical knowledge. We employ critical tools of the academy, such as original languages, literary analysis and biblical archaeology, while, at the same time, approaching Scripture as inspired and authoritative.
