Instructions for Participation in the Live Classroom

TO PARTICIPATE YOU MUST FIRST:

1. Become a member of BibleInteract
   There is no charge. Simply go to the Homepage, click on “Become a Member,” and fill out a simple form.
2. Appear on the Instructor’s list of participants
   Read the class summary carefully, which will explain who can participate.
3. Login as a member of BibleInteract
   If you forget your login and password, simply email BibleInteract to ask for help.
4. Register to participate
   You must first be logged in as a member of BibleInteract. Then click the “Register” button for the class you wish to join and follow the instructions.

GETTING READY:

1. A webcam is not required, but it will certainly enhance your classroom experience. If you do not have a webcam, we will only be able to see what you type. If you would like to purchase a webcam, we recommend either a Logitech  QuickCam Communicate STX, which has a built-in microphone, or a Logitech QuickCam Chat, which comes with a headset. But feel free to browse the net to see which webcam will work best for you.
2. Some advance preparation is often recommended by the Instructor (remember, this is a classroom, not a chat room). Read the course summary carefully for any instructions. If you are a student in a class, the teacher may send you instructions by email.

ENTERING THE CLASSROOM:

1. A few minutes before the live class is scheduled to start, go to the “Virtual Classroom” page on the website (Home → Resources → Virtual Classroom).
2. Login as a member of BibleInteract.
3. Scroll down to the classroom you want to enter and click on “Enter the Classroom.”  

BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE SCREEN:

1. Webcam videos of all students using a webcam are displayed at the top. You can scroll to the right if there are more than five students with webcams.
2. Webcam video of the classroom instructor appears at the left.
3. Chat of typed discussion is in the center

ARE YOU READY TO SPEAK WITH QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS?

1. Request the Microphone
2. Click on “Request Mic” under the list of participants. A hand will appear beside your name.
3. When the instructor selects you as the speaker:
   If you have a webcam with microphone, your video screen will become larger and your voice will be audible.
   If you have a microphone but no webcam , your voice will be audible.
   If you have neither a webcam nor a microphone, type your comments in the bar below the chat screen and click “Send.”

CHAT BY TYPING

1. You may type a message at any time in the white bar at the bottom and click “Send.” However, if the instructor has selected a participant to speak, who has neither a webcam nor a microphone, please lease the chat area open for that participant.

RESPECT OTHER PARTICIPANTS IN:

1. Your language when you speak
2. Your patience when others are speaking
3. Limit your participation so others may have a turn
